School Based Health Programs of the Diocese of Wheeling-Charleston

The School Based Health Programs in Wheeling and Weirton have designed this web site for principals and teachers in our Catholic Schools throughout West Virginia.  The site provides health related information, resources and educational tools for all ages.

Our professional teams recognize the link between nutrition, physical activity, and good health as direct links to students’ ability to achieve academically. The School Based Health Teams work to support the schools in helping students, teachers, staff and the community learn, establish, and maintain healthy life styles, attitudes and behaviors.

Our Registered Nurses and School Counselor are available for questions or comments. We welcome suggestions to enhance our efforts to bring health care to our Catholic Schools family.

Funded by the Sisters of St. Joseph Health and Wellness Foundation and the Diocese of Wheeling Charleston, the School Based Health Programs are in support of the vision:

The children of West Virginia have resources available to assist them in living to their fullest potential”

and the mission:

The Foundation will make optimal use of its resources in order to promote and support collaboration and partnership among various local, state and national groups working to address the holistic health of children in West Virginia.”
